Africa Day at Made

Engage the senses with African tastings, activities, art, music and more, all coming to Made on Saturday 25 May.

Made is coming alive with African spirit on Saturday 25 May from 10am. Bring the whole family to join in the festivities. Below are some of the fun things happening to celebrate this year!

Hair Braiding
Colourful hair braiding will be available from 10am in the Market area. No need to book, just pop in. From $10 per person.

Face Painting
Grab your tickets from Sawubona on the day and head up to the Mezzanine to experience amazing African face painting. $10 per person.

African Drumming
Don’t miss an extraordinary African Drumming performance happening at 6pm in the Village Green Area. You can also learn to play yourself with quick lessons taking place for those interested following the performance.

Colouring In Competition & African Quiz
Join the fun and complete the African Quiz or the Colouring in competition and be in to win amazing prizes. Pick up a colouring in competition and quiz sheet from Sawubona, Fowlers Eggs or Ranger Studio on the day. Sponsored by Made, Mr Twist, Mamas Donuts, Fowlers Eggs, Rumor, Pirongia Mountain Vegetables, Sawubona, Burger Burger and Ranger Studio.

Free Donut and Chai Tasting
Enjoy a taste of Swahili Donuts and Chai at Sawubona. Donuts kindly prepared by Mezze and Mamasdonuts.

Hubiscus Tea Tasting
Try a Sudanese Hubiscus Tea (Karkade). Available at Fowlers Eggs.

A taste of African Coffee
Get your daily coffee fix and enjoy a Kenyan, Ethiopian or Tanzanian coffee at Grey Roasting Co.

Zebra Themed Pretzels
Pretzels like you’ve never seen before. Grab a zebra themed pretzel from Mr Twist. Available until sold out.

Specialty Meats
Pick up some mouth-watering African favourites such as Biltong or Boerewors from Expleo Butchery.

African Cocktail
Available for one day only and specially crafted for African day, treat yourself to an African cocktail at Hapi Bar.

African Burger
Mix it up with an African burger at Burger Burger available for Africa Day only.

South African Wine
